What type of Medicare
Plan should I get?
Most people will look at two types of Medicare plans to help pay what Medicare alone does not cover.
- A Medigap Supplement Health Plan with a separate Prescription Drug plan. You pay a monthly premium for each policy and premiums will go up each year. It does not include extra benefits. There is No Network. Most plans do have an outpatient medical deductible and there are no copayments;
- An Advantage Health Plan where most companies include Prescription Drug Plan combined into one policy. You pay a low premium or a $0 monthly premium. The premium typically will not go up. Advantage Plan does include extra benefits such as Dental, Vision, Hearing, Meals after hospital stay, Over the counter products shipped to your home, Gym membership, Teledoc, and More. There is a Network however, in some plans you are allowed to go out of network at a higher copay. Most of these plans there is no medical deductible. There are copays.
So, let's say you now qualify for Medicare...
You go down to the Social Security office and enroll in Medicare Part A (Hospital Coverage) and Part B (Medical Coverage) then you go home confused. Then you get the Medicare & You book in the mail. You start reading and it has a ton of valuable important information, but you're now very confused.
Now you must make the crucial decision in choosing a Medicare company to help pay what Medicare does not cover, hoping you have made the right decision.
You have three choices:
- You could research several companies yourself; without much insurance experience and choose a company, hoping you have made the right decision or meet with several Agents and could still be confused; Or
- Choose a company that a friend has recommended and hope it works. It may not! Have you heard the old saying? "One shoes does not fit all" It is true when it comes to choosing a Medicare plan; or
